Do you want to improve your well-being and gut health? Read this article and know why the paleo diet could be your option. Breeanna Verna, a registered dietician, shared her quest for healing. Discover how to heal your gut by incorporating nutrient-dense foods into your everyday meal, which Breeanna did.
Breeanna Verna’s Background
Breeanna is a registered dietician, massage therapist, and personal trainer, and she also holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Nutrition. She seems to be a jack of all trades in the health and wellness arena.
Growing up as a competitive figure skater, Breeanna was always conscious of her weight. At the young age of 10, she would eat yogurt for lunch and restrict herself from any normal “kid foods.” As a result of severe restriction and an unsustainable approach to eating, binging on all the foods was what came next.
Breeanna’s high school years were when she first started learning the basics of nutrition — how to read labels, good and not-so-good carbohydrates, and understanding the basics of good food choices. Then, with the knowledge she’d learned, she started changing the way her family grocery shopped. And while they weren’t inherently what we’d call “good choices” nowadays, it was her entrance into the world of nutrition and dietetics.
Breeanna’s Dilemma
After starting college for massage therapy, Breeanna dreaded what everyone calls the “freshman 15,” so she joined the local fitness center. She started Zumba classes, weightlifting 3–4 days per week, and learning her way around the gym. As diet plays a vital role in weight loss, she started tracking every calorie and opting for low-calorie and fat-free foods when shopping. The result? She lost about 10–15 pounds but experienced constant fatigue and hunger.
Heal Your Gut Through Paleo Eating – Breeanna’s Transition
The paleo diet came about after speaking with her roommate, who mentioned the diet. Shortly after, Breeanna dove straight into the Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain and went headfirst into the lifestyle. After experimenting with her eating, Breeanna learned that paleo doesn’t have to be restrictive, and you can adhere to the 90/10 rule, so social gatherings aren’t something to dread.
Breeanna’s health and wellness journey is never linear and is constantly evolving. She’s been through ups and downs over the past few years, most recently being diagnosed with severe food allergies and digestive issues. Through this journey, Breeanna has learned that diet can truly be medicine and has the power to heal your gut. Despite going through several physical and mental obstacles, they have only made her a stronger, more compassionate dietician and allowed her to help others struggling with their health.
Helping Others To Be Healthy
Currently, Breeanna works as a clinical dietician at a medical facility alongside a number of other specialists. In addition, she has a private online nutrition business where she uses her knowledge and experience to help other people struggling with health issues. She also gives her clients 24/7 access and teaches them how to lose weight, keep it off, and continue on their path to success!
Breeanna’s Paleo Recipes
The paleo diet indeed did wonders for Breeanna’s well-being. She found that paleo has helped alleviate most of her health conditions—food allergies and digestive issues—and wants to give you access to all the delicious recipes she enjoys weekly.
Breeanna occasionally likes intermittent fasting, so her breakfasts may be black coffee or things like a 3-minute breakfast biscuit, veggie egg bake, or cookies. For lunches and dinners, she sticks to simple things like turkey or chicken stuffed with bell peppers, creamy cauliflower alfredo with spaghetti squash, fish with low-carb carrot fries, and a balance bowl loaded with chicken, greens, quinoa, and any other fresh veggies you want. But if you’re in the mood for a “cheat meal,” she’s got you covered with some super yummy four-ingredient apricot-glazed chicken wings.
When it comes to cooking, Breeanna believes it’s about sticking to simple, healthy recipes that can be cooked in batches to save you time, like this one – Breeanna’s special zoodles recipe.
